In March- Mualim and Maria Baverstock took part in a pleasure ride with their
regular riding companions, Sara and 12,2hh 8-year-old Datrmoor pony mare Bracken.
They completed  8-mile course over Devon Forestry Commission grounds at a brisk
pace in 45 minutes, to ensure Mualim didn’t get too distracted by the many equine
temptations around him. This was Mualim’s first successful public outing, largely owed to
Bracken’s positive influence on him over the last year. Read here the story of their
partnership.
Agan’s home is a livery stables with 40
horses ranging from Hafflingers to Dutch
Warmbloods, Irish Cobs, an impressive
dressage-trained Gelderlander and a
formidable Zeeland Draught horse
pictured below with Agan who clearly
considers size to be immaterial and is not
easily intimidated!
On April 21st- Maria Baverstock
visited an Akhal-Teke owner in the
Netherlands: Tabitha Meijer is based in the
South-West of Holland and owns
6-year-old gelding Agan
(Shamborant-Geran).
Agan and Tabitha are having lessons and
currently working on trot-to-canter
transitions. Agan is ridden barefoot in a
treeless saddle and a Western-style bridle.
“Agan is in the early stages of his training
and progressing well. The solid,
conventional Dutch training style suits him
well,” says Maria “he clearly has a strong
bond with Tabitha who has owned him
from foal. When I got on him, he turned his
head to sniff me out and was not
impressed! For Tabitha, however, he
works very nicely, has an active, rhythmic
trot and concentrates well in a very busy
yard, with horses being led back and forth
past the manege.”

Akhal-Teke UK wishes Tabitha many
happy years with Agan!
On April 21st- a new purebred Akhal-Teke mare has arrived in the UK. Perimli
(Melesur-Pantera) was born at Shamborant Stud “ShaEl-Teke”, imported to France and
mostly used there as a broodmare, producing, among others, an excellent foal by Arab.
She is now owned by Tina Wenman who brought her to the UK to be bred to Mualim
Shael. Perimli is a small, fine, very typical mare with a beautiful, “ancient” head and
classic hooded eyes. With her star-studded pedigree, we are hoping to see some
interesting off-spring from her in the next few years. She will be ridden lightly, as well as
used for breeding, and we may show her at Devon County this year.

On April 27th- On 27th April Dominik (Melezor-Dzhamna) and his owner Darya
Hannigan completed the Vale of Aylesbury sponsored ride. The 7-mile course was set
up with 50 cross-country obstacles (including water)

uk/course.html which Dominik tackled calmly and carefully, learning to pick up his legs
better and measure his stride more efficiently with every jump. Only once did he hesitate
before a jump, causing him and Darya to part company briefly but they soon recovered
and were back on track to complete the course with flying colours. This is all the more
impressive considering this was Dominik’s first public ride and first attempt at cross-
country.
